Rachels 4th Birthday Phase 1
On Monday August 25 Rachel will turn 4. Today we had her friends over for a par-tay! She chose to dress up as princess, she was so cute and a good hostess. For her party song list please follow this link http://www.youtube.com/my_playlists?pi=0&ps=20&sf=&sa=0&sq=&dm=0&p=2022A1A6153D06B3
The princess's favorite treat is anything chocolate. Everyone was in a sugar coma after the party.
Here is Rachel with her presents!
From left to right: Emily, Megan, Rachel, Alivia, Ethan, Kathrine
Megan's sister Mckenna was to wiggly for the first group shot, I caught her trying to be sneaky

White Water Rafting
Lake Superior 2008
Mama Kotula gets some 1 on 1 time with the chilly Superior water.
Rachel and I enjoy some splashing time, just us, while Hannah sleeps. Dad was off "white water rafting". See next blog.
So, the truth is Richard and I LOVE going to Superior, and splashing and crashing in the waves. The girls liked the beach best. So, they were good enough to give mom and dad a fun day.
Here Hannah spies the pink toy camera un attended! She is preparing to make her move.
Yes, Richard didn't believe she would do it, but Hannah DID take a nap on the beach in her pack and play! Thanks Aunt Edith for the bug net all those years ago, comes in handy!

Do not be afraid
Hi all, no pictures this time. Just some thoughts. Life in general seems to be looming up before me in its reality lately. Richard is transitioning into a new position as Head Coach in Three Lakes. My legs are refusing to let me run, one of my passions. My close friends and I are all so crazy busy, in different ways, we never get to connect to encourage each other. Rachel starts 4 year old kindergarten on September 3rd! You get the picture. I know there are thousands of women who have gone before me and done all these things and more in this season of their life. It dosen't make it any less big or scary.
I was running around in the pool with the girls this afternoon. They were both in their floaties and I ran around the outside to make a current, a whirlpool. I ran around and around, and the current eventually got so strong that the girls just gave up kicking and went a long for the ride. Whoosh whoosh around they went. THey had a blast and I got a WORKOUT!
When I try to navigate the whirlpool of life on my own it gets to strong for me. Eventually I just give up and stop kicking and let the currect suck me into a vortex of worry and stress.
God, on the other hand, promises to give me HIS strength to manage these whirlpools. To ride them looking to HIS powerful promised that he has a purpose and a plan for me. ( Ephesians 2)
I do not need to be discouraged, because my Savior is GOD.
I found the most encouraging verses on a blog connected with proverbs31. org check it out sometime, its great.
"...'Don't be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the Lord rescue you....The Lord himself will fight for you. You won't have to lift a finger in your defense!'" Exodus 14:13-14, NLT
So, come on over future, pull up a chair and have some sweet tea, cause Mrs. Kotula and her God are ready for ya!
